This product is a 4 slot host chassis that accommodates 11 kinds of media modules. The module family consist of: (1) 8-port 10/100BASE-TX, (4) 4-port 100BASE-FX (SC), (ST), (MT-RJ) & (VF-45), (4) 2-port 100BASE-FX (SC), (ST), (MT-RJ) & (VF-45), and (2) 1-port 1000BASE-SX or LX modules. These switches combine fiber and copper ports in a rackmountable box, providing an inexpensive solution for interconnecting between buildings in a campus, multi-tenant location covering large areas or industrial environments. The MIL-S1000 product when populated with fiber and copper port modules can give you the flexibility of media conversion with the switching architecture performance. The 100 Mbps fiber ports provide the long distance capability of (2km) and the 1000 Mbps fiber ports provide a distance up to (10km). As members of MiLAN Technology's family of unmanaged switches, the MIL-S1000 has been designed to provide network managers with a sensibly priced performance alternative to traditional shared Ethernet technology. By providing 4 G-Link bus interfaces in the base unit, the user has the freedom to arrange any module in any slot giving the ultimate in flexibility. The integration of 10/100 Mbps and 1000 Mbps technology is now a simple matter of slotting in the desired module. By mixing different modules in the same cabinet, the user ensures network performance and budget requirements are easily met. The MIL-S1000 family's switching mode (architecture) is store-and-forward with a filter and forwarding rate of: 14, 880pps for 10 Mbps, 148, 800pps for 100 Mbps and 1, 488, 000pps for 1000 Mbps.
